Our emblem bears the icon of St. George, a figure from ancient Christian mythology who faced the dragon to rescue the princess. In the myth, St. George confronts a dragon that terrorizes a city, demanding human sacrifice. When a princess is chosen as the next offering, George intervenes, defeats the beast, and rescues her, bringing peace to the land. The story of St. George is a reflection of the deeper truth of Christ, who conquered sin and death through the cross to rescue His Beloved, the Church, represented by the princess in the St. George myth. In a mysterious way, St. George becomes a mirror of the true Victor, the Christ. Our name remembers both St. George’s myth and Christ’s true sacrifice, and our mission as a club is to image the spirit of the spear and the blood: bravery in battle, and love in sacrifice.
